Why We Exist
Caregiving is one of the hardest jobs you’ll ever love. Yet so often, the caregivers are left feeling drained, guilty, and alone. We believe caregivers deserve care too.

It all began with a simple realization: daughters and sons need support too.
Maria Mercedes Gaviria, a corporate executive, ministry leader, and full-time caregiver for her mother, Lucia, knows the weight of caregiving firsthand. Between hospital stays, tough medical decisions, and the relentless exhaustion, she learned that even the strongest caregivers can be brought to their breaking point. Faith and community carried her through, but she recognized not every daughter had that support.
Her daughter, Natasha Goodwin, saw it too. As a therapist, she noticed families with resources for aging parents, but almost nothing for the daughters and sons carrying the emotional, mental, and spiritual toll of caregiving.
Maria and Natasha felt called to change that. What started as a conversation on a walk has grown into Catholic Caregiver - a movement serving more than 5,000 Catholic caregivers around the world. Along the way, they’ve shared their story through retreats, coaching, and speaking, becoming trusted guides for those navigating the hardest season of their lives.
Their work blends professional expertise, therapeutic insight, and Catholic teaching into a proven approach. Through the Five Habits of Caregivers, they offer practical tools and faith-filled encouragement for one of life’s greatest callings: to honor your father and your mother.
